Ofer Asaf is a lead researcher in the field of robotic additive manufacturing and a Ph.D. student at the MTRL lab. His work is concerned with interweaving design, fabrication technologies, and material sciences, to promote cultural and environmental response-abiility by developing natural-based material formulations for large-scale robotic fabrication.

Ofer holds an M.Des degree in multi-disciplinary design from Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, and a B.Sc in Polymer Engineering from the same institute. He is a recipient of the Israel Chemicals Scholarship (2017-2018). Ofer was a research associate at CIRTex – the Israeli Plastics Recycling Consortium and The David & Barbara Blumenthal Israel Center for Innovation and Research in Textiles (CIRTex) at Shenkar College of Engineering.

His doctorate research at the MTRL lab is concerned with developing negotiation strategies for the future of construction, using advanced fabrication tools. Acknowledging the climatic upheaval our planet is facing, his study is concerned with defining relationships between environmental, cultural, and economic considerations through the integration of regional wisdom and current technological pathways.
